Behind the shed restoration…

You have to see the shed ‘before’ to truly appreciate the vision behind this restoration project

The c. 1940s shearing shed was still structurally strong with hand-cut beams and an old tin roof that Philip and Sally were keen to retain. So the family removed rubbish, sorted reusable materials and pared the building down to the bare frame. Then they carefully rebuilt a self-contained bungalow. See shed floorplan.

Features include:

  • A new roof above the original one, sandwiched with plenty of insulation
  • Original timber framework, complete with old bolts, holes, hooks and rough handiwork
  • Rusted tin interior walls recycled from an old house nearby
  • Original shearing shed floorboards upcycled into doors and frames
  • New jarrah floorboards and kitchen island.
